RES Handbook Vol 5 Part 1b. Coleoptera. Buprestidae

The family Buprestidae is a large one, containing over 15,000 described species. It is best represented in tropical and subtropical areas, both in numbers of species and individuals, but is almost world-wide in distribution and a few species are found north of the Arctic Circle. In Britain there are only 12 indigenous species, none of which is reliably recorded from Ireland. Several species have been imported from time to time, but only Euprestis aurulenta L. is imported regularly and included in the key.
